OUR HISTORY

P&H Manufacturing was formed through a partnership consisting of two individuals, Charles D. Peifer and Earl A. Holland. It began operation in 1946 in Shelbyville, IL, with approximately 2200 square feet of floor space.

General shop work involving the farming industry was the first stage of operation. In 1951, the first applicator was built. In 1952, P&H designed and built an ammonia knife to be used with the applicator. This was followed in 1954 with a wagon used for carrying a 1000 gallon anhydrous ammonia tank. This is now known as the anhydrous ammonia equipment line. In the span of years from 1951 to 1964, many types of applicators and a great number of wagons were built. In October of 1963, P&H became incoporated and expansion began. This expansion grew to approximately 30,000 square feet under one roof.

In 1973, the opportunity arose to increase the size of the manufacturing facility. This new facility in Shelbyville consists of approximately 250,000 square feet in manufacturing area, 100,000 square feet of warehouse space, and 8000 square feet of office area.

P&H Manufacturing began building industrial cranes for Fleet Equipment Company in 1975. In 1989, P&H Manufacturing became a certified supplier for Caterpillar Inc. This certification has provided numerous opportunities for P&H. P&H's high production standards have provided the opportunity to produce a variety of products for various manufacturers in the semi trailer industry. Mechanical sliders, air ride sliders, bolsters, dollies, large and small mounting brackets, crossmembers, and frontposts are a few of the items produced.

Today, P&H Manufacturing is still growing and always looking for other viable markets. We continue to improve our manufacturing processes. In October 2000, we opened a new machining building and it contains a 4000 watt Trumpf laser, various CNC lathes and CNC machining centers, and coordinate measuring machine. With the help of the employees, P&H will continue this growth. The key to both individual and company success will be the ability to adapt to change in order to meet the demands of our customers in today's very dynamic and competitive marketplace.

Whatever it is, give us a try on your next project and see what we can do for you.
